Scott is third generation in his family to farm. After graduating in 2001 from Cal Poly State University – San Luis Obispo, with a degree in Agricultural Business; he became involved in the family business as a partner with his parents. He has added to the diversity of the crops initially farmed by his family which currently include blueberries, almonds, table grapes and wine grapes.
Our two daughters, Madison (5 1/2yrs) and Hailey (4 yrs) are starting to develop a love for agriculture and enjoy taking walks and wagon rides through the blueberry rows. They both love driving tractor with their Daddy. We want our girls to have the experience of being raised on a family farming operation and as their parents, offer examples of hard work, dedication, and being advocates for agriculture.
Contributing to the vertical integration of the farming operation, Scott has JB Critchley, Inc., a trucking company that hauls produce and ag commodities throughout California; and Aslan Cold Storage which consists of two cold storage facilities located in Kingsburg and Reedley, California.
Mandy received a Bachelors degree in Agricultural Business with an emphasis on Sales and Marketing from the University of Wisconsin, Madison in 2001. As the owner of MC Solutions, LLC, a full service marketing company offering strategic online marketing tools, she works with many businesses in the food and agricultural industries. Mandy is an alumni of the California Ag Leadership Program and assists with marketing efforts for an annual alumni fundraising breakfast.
Scott’s grandfather Stanley Jacobsen was a leader in the agricultural community who farmed grapes and tree fruit and was involved in custom cotton harvesting. He was very active in the Fresno County Farm Bureau and served as president for two terms in 1974-76.
Mandy’s grandfather William D. Taylor worked at the Monterey County Agricultural Department from 1964-1981 and was the Deputy Agricultural Commissioner in from 1979-1981.
Scott and Mandy are members of the Produce Marketing Association, Western Growers, United Fresh Produce Association, Tulare and Fresno County Farm Bureaus, and the Fresh Produce and Floral Council.
